New Dimensions Weight Loss Surgery announced that Dr. John Pilcher, who specializes in bariatric surgery, was named one of the Best Doctors in America® for 2007-08. This is the second consecutive year that Dr. Pilcher has earned this prestigious honor.
Dr. Pilcher has performed more than 1,300 bariatric surgical procedures since completing his surgical training in 1995 and was the first surgeon in south Texas to perform the gastric bypass procedure laparoscopically. He recently served as one of 12 national investigators for the FDA research project that established the safety and effectiveness of the REALIZE Adjustable Gastric Band for patients in the U.S. and is now a national proctor teaching this surgical procedure to leading surgeons across the southwestern U.S. In addition to the gastric band procedure, Dr.Pilcher regularly performs gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy procedures for patients seeking weight loss surgery.
